By distractions in the world, I mean all the Tweets, commercials, emails…etc. coming at you from all sides… Often, they are a source of mental anguish.
And I can also give an example of how I apply running away from pain. Most of us have to work, and even if there might be some parts of your job that you enjoy, a lot of times there are a lot of things that cause you stress.
For me, going to Thailand to train Thai boxing for a month was a way to escape the pain of day to day work life. So what I felt there was “aponia”, the absence of pain. However, pain in a mental way.
Training was quite painful. :) However, there I see another principle. This pain was worth bearing, since it led to greater pleasure at the end.
