Yes, these charges were leveled at him in the past, mostly on ideological grounds. Apparently Wilson and Lewontin even worked on different floors of the same building at Harvard, and wouldn't even get into the elevator together. However, this seemed to have died down. Unfortunately now, these things have been resurrected and even inflamed even further.
