I write about this a lot. In my opinion, this is due to the fact that humans are storytelling animals, and are suckers for good stories. They like to find simple patterns, even if in reality things are more complicated.

What I find frightening is how people don't base their "theories" on any types of facts, but rather their "feelings". Why do you think what you say is true? Their answer, I don't know, it just is. What is your evidence for it? Of course, they have no evidence, besides their feelings.
