In terms of Shakespeare, most of his works are just rehashes of older stuff. Actually there were several Rome and Juliette plays/stories written by other authors before him.

As for Anabassis, I am still surprised no one has made a feature film (or even better a series) on the story. As an adventure/action story, it's much better than many of the fictional shows you see on TV.
