Online dating is horrible for most guys, whatever race. Getting one or no matches is the norm, even if you are a white guy or other races. Tinder kills self-esteem. I don't think your experience on dating apps would have been different were you white.

As for being Asian in Europe, I think your experiences might have also been affected by the fact you are American. Most Europeans know the US is a multi-ethnic country, so it's not a big shock when you say you are American.

However, you might have had different experiences were you actually a local Asian. Despite many European countries having large Asian minorities, local Asians are still seen as "foreigners". Despite many being born in the country and speaking the local language without an accent.

There are some towns in the Czech Republic for example which are 10 or 20% Vietnamese. However, it's still hard for people to accept them as "Czech". Same in other places like Germany.
