"The simplest principle of Platonism is the key to understanding Plotinus’s work: according to Plato, an eternal world of ideas is true reality as opposed to the illusory world of appearances that we inhabit."

This is a great way to summarize Plato's ideas. :)

I have always wanted to have a closer look at the Neo-Platonists, but always get put off by all the mystical stuff. I prefer the more practical ideas of the Stoics or Epicureans, those I know how to apply in practice in real life.
