Yes, unfortunately I am afraid that all that vitriolic political garbage that took over the platform in 2020 might have driven away a lot of more sophisticated readers. Before that date you can see that a variety of different types of writing used to go viral (for example Zat Rana). However, the turn to woke activism might have oversaturated the platform with this stuff and normal readers who were not interested in this type of stuff just went away. While this site needs writers to populate it, above all it needs readers (people who come just to read) in order to read those articles. If Medium doesn't start to focus on attracting readers, then it will go downhill. It won't happen if the platform is oversaturated with vitriolic garbage and how to get rich on Medium articles.
